Bently Nevada recently performed its first Remote Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) in Latin America. As the world navigates the challenges of COVID-19, it is inspiring to see more and more parts of our business pivot quickly and efficiently to meet customer needs and timelines.
Historically, Bently Nevada’s markets were predominantly Oil and Gas and Power Generation, and this story is another significant milestone as the brand advances its reputation as a plant-wide solutions provider in all industrial markets, including Pulp & Paper.
Arauco Argentina has 1,200+ employees across all of its locations with 684 companies in the ARAUCO ARGENTINA S.A. corporate family.
Due to the existing Covid-19 travel and health restrictions, remote tests had to be arranged to allow the customer’s participation and interaction on the process, and keep the project moving forward. The local team successfully tested 109 Field Monitoring Units (FMUs) for the Arauco Pulp & Paper Arauco project in Chile, South America.
In order to ensure social distancing and follow travel restrictions protocols, the customer could not be physically present at the Baker Hughes Campinas (Brazil) site, where regional distribution and assembly takes place.
For this reason, the local team designed and prepared a live broadcast to Remote FAT the three different FMUs models that compose the 109 panels – FMU 1 (1 vbOnline Pro), FMU 2 (2 vbOnline Pro) and FMU 4 (4 vbOnline Pro). Full project scope also includes System 1 EVO for Industrials, 1550 accelerometer sensors and 20 Ranger Pro wireless sensors.
The Test Technician and Project Engineer set up four video cameras on different angles to showcase multiple details and made use of Bently MSS (Machinery Signal Simulator) and System 1 platform so that customer could check the data that was being tested and generated by the hardware. The audio and the visuals facilitated the remote inspection of the quality of the product and confirm its proper system functionality.
One week before the official R-FAT, Bently Nevada had a meeting with the customer to understand their expectations and requests. Tests were 100% efficient and exceeded customer’s expectations, that was impressed with the professionalism exhibited by our team while delivering Remote FAT results.
Being able to execute and pass this important FAT, proved how Bently Nevada team is ready to overcome the challenges presented by the current pandemic circumstances.
